Vassilis Arseniou was born in Thessaloniki in 1978, with an origin from Kilkis and Thassos. His father, Paraskevas Arseniou, a military doctor, and his mother Maria, grew him with valuable family values: love for freedom, logic, aesthetics, nature, and the unbridled curiosity of understanding the world around him. He grew up in Greece and Europe, living a beautiful and carefree childhood, exploring and cultivating various interests, where he continued his studies at business administration, engineering, graphic design, theology and computer science in London. His personal search and love for mankind has prompted him, in 2004, to become a priest in the Church of Greece and the Patriarchate of Constantinople until 2010, where he was self-removed and started his business in the area of health and well-being with great success.
In April 2017 following the Joint Ministerial Decision on industrial cannabis, drawing inspiration and support from his family environment, begins the research and study of the market, processing and cultivation, while at the same time his father Dr Paraskevas Arseniou, a pathologist specialized in immunology and homeopath, studies the international medical research and literature.
“Cannabis had drawn our interest at least 20 years earlier, with the first announcements of studies on the endocannabinoid system, the anadamide, etc. The ban, of course, greatly restricted any access to the plant and its healing properties. In recent years, we have all witnessed the countless sacrifices of people, friends and relatives, on the cognitive traits of the cancer industry. “Recognizing cannabis as a great tool for releasing man from great suffering, he decided, with his wife and his wider family, on December 2017, to establish The Hemp Way based in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki.
“Knowing the originality of Greek land and climate,” says Vasilis Arseniou, “it was obvious that we had to start the production of industrial cannabis in Greece.” Since April 2018, The Hemp Way, in collaboration with experienced Greek producers, has grown acres of industrial cannabis in greenhouses in Basilica, Thessaloniki.
“This year, we cultivated with the aim of producing premium quality hemp flowers, for top quality tea and we have achieved excellent results. Finally, after multiple sorting of our crops, we will dispose of three herb types: no-seed, with-seed and crumb.
What we are primarily concerned with, is to produce a clean, quality product in a fair trade environment that makes both the consumer and the producer fully satisfied in terms of quality and reward.”
At the same time, we are looking to highlight Greek cannabis products, both in Greece and Europe, for their competitive advantages that we have already seen in both the cultivation and the final quality of the product produced.
“The Hemp Way store and our Greek cannabis products can be found at our store in Kalamaria, Thessaloniki, at 29, Argyroupoleos str., or the website of our company (www.thehempway.eu).
